Last week, I finished the Whole30.

This week, I’m taking on the 21 Day Sugar Detox…minus nightshades.

I might be nuts, but there’s a purpose: I wanted a framework similar to a Whole30 that I could test how I react to nightshades within, but I also wanted to be able to bake. I think the 21DSD is going to be a good match.

Again, I don’t know what exactly happened to last week’s menu – there are a lot of hold-overs that didn’t get done last week.

Monday (late doctor’s appointment/FFA meeting)
Fajitas (minus peppers for me)
Green Salad
Guacamole

Tuesday (allergy shots)
Grilled Chicken
Roasted veggies (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, whatever else is in the fridge!)
Roasted potatoes (for the family)

Wednesday
Pot Roast
Roasted Broccoli and Garlic

Thursday
Chicken and Vegetable Lo Mein (prep in the morning)
White Rice (cooked in bone broth – for the family)

Friday
Butter Chicken
Cauliflower Rice (me)
White Rice (the kids)
Steamed Broccoli

Saturday
Tri Tip
Zucchini Paleo Alfredo-ish

Sunday
Sandwich Sundays – something new I’m trying to give myself more of a break on Sunday’s. It’s everyone make your own sandwich night, and mine will be a lettuce wrap.

  1. I’m anxious to hear how the sugar-detox goes. I go through phases when I make good progress at sugar-reduction at our house. Then, I get into a baking mood and often grab the sugar so I’m sure the recipe will work.

    • I actually decided not to do it right now, as of about noon on Day 1. I realized after just finishing a Whole30 and dealing with some heavy emotional stuff, this just isn’t the right time.

      I will say, though, that the only sugar I had during the Whole30 was sugar that came from fruit and starchy vegetables, and I feel amazing!

  3. I’m actually thinking about doing the 21DSD as well. Mentioned it to my boyfriend last night but he wasn’t that enthusiastic. Said that going from one “cleanse” straight to another wasn’t teaching me healthy habits. The jury is still out if I agree with him. But most likely I will do it in March. Want to be able to eat treats on Valentines Day :)

      21DSD has been hands down the hardest challenge for me, and I know it’s because of the lack of fruit (and I’m not a huge fan of green tipped bananas or green apples). I honestly don’t think I’ve made it more than a day or two into it without bailing.
